Mediation is a voluntary dispute resolution process in which parties in conflict meet with a neutral third party, known as a mediator, who assists the parties in coming to their own agreement about how to resolve their conflict.
Priti Shah has served as a mediator for Mediation Services, the Farm Debt Mediation Program and for the Federal Mediation Conciliation Service and has conducted more than 200 mediation sessions on a wide range of organizational and personal disputes.
Negotiation is a dispute resolution process whereby parties to a dispute resolve matters by holding discussions and coming to a mutual agreement. Often negotiating parties need a representative or need coaching on how to negotiate effectively with one another.
Conciliation is a dispute resolution process whereby the parties to a dispute agree to utilize the services of a conciliator, who then meets with the parties separately in an attempt to resolve their differences. The conciliator does this by lowering tensions, improving communications, interpreting issues, providing technical assistance, exploring potential solutions and bringing about a negotiated settlement.
